Diamond Jubilee of Canon Morris

On Saturday 9th June, we celebrated at Springhill, the Diamond Jubilee of our chaplain, Canon John Morris, a retired priest of the Southwark diocese. Including the Canon and the Bishop of Portsmouth, Crispian Hollis, there were eight celebrants at the Mass, which began at 12.00 noon. Bishop Crispian had insisted that Canon should be the principal celebrant. There were about forty people present, who stayed afterwards for lunch. The priests mainly came from the Isle of Wight and included one from Canon's former diocese. He had already celebrated a little with his friends on the mainland. The sisters of our London community, Norlands, came together, as well as Sister Marguerite, from Sittingbourne, who lived at Springhill for many years.

Next month will be the Diamond Jubilee of our parish priest, Father Brian Coogan, a Mill Hill Missionary!
